Andrea de Almeida studied Education and Ballet in Brazil. She attended courses at the University of Rochester and the Garth Fagan School of Dance (Rochester, NY), and also the Dance and Dance Education MA program at New York University. Andrea has an MA in Physical Education and Recreation, with specialization in Dance Education from the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta). Her main areas of interest are teaching dance for children and researching on the role of creative dance in cognitive development. Her MA thesis is titled Creative Dance and Cognition: A study on physical expression of concepts. She currently teaches creative movement for children at several pre-schools in the Montreal area, at FACE School, and at Ballet Divertimento, in addition to the Centre Greene.
